Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not known for being statuesque around the penalty area – but the same perhaps cannot be said back in his homeland Sweden.
The Manchester United striker has posted a picture on his Instagram account @iamzlatanibrahimovic showing him visiting a statue of himself which is currently being made. The image shows the 35-year-old standing in a workshop next to the sculpture, which appears to dwarf him and shows the player with his arms stretched out in celebration.
After being posted on Monday, the picture had been liked almost 900,000 times by Tuesday lunchtime.
It is not clear where or when the picture was taken but it shows Ibrahimovic wearing a Sweden national team tracksuit. He retired from international football in the summer.
The former PSG striker came 13th in voting for the 2016 Ballon d’Or award this week, with Cristiano Ronaldo announced as the winner on Monday night.
The Real Madrid striker gathered 745 points in voting, with Ibrahimovic collecting just five for his efforts in France, at Old Trafford and with the Swedish team.
Ibrahimovic is expected to be in United’s squad for their Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.
He has scored 13 goals for Jose Mourinho’s team since moving there from the Parc des Princes, with five of them coming in his last five games.
