Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has eased fears over his ankle injury as he was pictured driving away from the Lowry Hotel on Monday morning.

The Armenian left the pitch on a stretcher after scoring the only goal in the Red Devils’ 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

He was on the wrong end of a crunching tackle from Danny Rose, and there were worries Mkhitaryan could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines just as he was reaching his best form for his new club. After initially struggling to break into the first team under Jose Mourinho, Mkhitaryan has begun to establish himself at United, scoring his first goal for the club against Zorya Luhansk in midweek.

He followed that up with his maiden Premier League goal against Spurs, and Jose Mourinho move to allay suggestions the midfielder would be out for a long period of time following the match.

The Special One said: “It looks like next match, no, but it looks like it is nothing dangerous or needing surgery, so hopefully we have Mkhi back probably Boxing Day.”

Mkhitaryan will definitely be absent as United travel to Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening.

They then face West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday, before hosting Sunderland on Boxing Day, where it is hoped Mkhitaryan will be fit to return.
