Senate President Bukola Saraki
People have continued to trail the intervention of the Senate President in the ongoing strike by lecturers of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH).
The institution had been under lock for several months as lecturers protest non-payment of salaries, allowances and pensions even as the government of Osun and Oyo allege mismanagement of funds.
Lecturers in the institution under the Academic Staff Union of Universities insist the government owe them N8 billion in arrears.
In a bid to end the crisis, the Senate President met with students of the institution to examine the plausibility of solving the problem at the shortest possible time.
In the meeting which was aired live on the Facebook page of the Senate President, Saraki promised to get to the bottom of the situation and ensure the school resumes academic activities.
The meeting and promised intervention of Saraki has generated wide praise on Facebook by some Nigerians who viewed the video.
While some hailed Saraki for his intervention, others said that his interference had won them over from being critics of the senator to be his supporters.
However, some others were of the view that his intervention was merely to obtain political points while other questions his honesty of intent.
