It keeps getting better and better. The fight against terrorism in Nigeria is taking a new course. The armed forces of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army rescued 85 hostages and cleared out terrorists in the town of Chukungudu near the Lake Chad region on Friday and Saturday.
According to a military press release issued on Sunday morning, the soldiers also cleared terrorists, suspected to be Boko Haram militants, out of the towns of Geram and Bulankassa.
Five militants were killed in the operation while one Nigerian troop was killed. The soldiers discovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factory, where they found suicide bomber vests. The troops also discovered and seized four rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), one double-barrel gun, ammunitions, and an AK-47 magazine. Three vehicles and several motorcycles were also recovered.
